Dear Deanna - below is a website for the trial I am on about the vaccine created by using my fluid and treating it in some way. I have had 9 so far and it seems that the cancer is not getting worse. It is not getting better, but holding its own for two years I guess is something to be thankful for.

Also - - I have a couple of BC friends who live in Fredickton, NB. It seems to me that the protocol coming from Canada is somewhat different that in the USA. If you are allowed a second opinion on any of this, it might be good to get it. I live in Maine. Pretty much all of my last two years has been pretty asymptomatic. My fluid would cause me to get out of breath fairly easily, but that used to be when there was 2100 cc of fluid in there. Before I started on the vaccine Dana Farber ordered baseline CT scans. One scan showed 4 brain mets. The vaccine was put off while I had 15 whole brain radiation treatments. I had no symptoms that indicated brain mets. I had to work very hard with the medical establishment to find out about my bc recurrence as when the lung guy knew there was fluid and it was recommended that it be drained off, he ordered the draining, but no testing of the fluid. As I had to insist that this abnormal fluid be tested was the only way I would have known about my recurrence of bc. I thought I was cancer free for 12 years. I don't want to discourage you, but you and your mom need to be fully comfortable with your treatment and with the info you get.
