Has anyone had a heart blockage caused by radiation treatments? I was just told early this week that I have a heart blockage and they think it was caused by the radiation treatments...it showed up on a EKG. They are doing a ct scan of the heart tomorrow so they can look at it closer.
I am thinking what they are seeing and possibly also causing the blockage is scar tissue. I have been sick for 2 weeks and having breathing problems. They cannot find out what is wrong with me. That lead to them doing an EKG and finding as the doctor stated a pretty significant heart blockage.
I had a cat scan done of my upper back just a few weeks ago due to pain and they didn't find anything. I also had a Pet scan done. I would of thought they could of seen the heart blockage when they did the cat scan of the upper back but they didn't. Now they know the pain was being caused by the blockage. I now also have a pretty bad heart mummer.
The doctor compared my EKG to an EKG done 3 yrs ago before surgery, chemo and radiation and there is a big change.
Has anybody dealt with this? Your input would be helpful.
The cancer is staying away but now I am dealing with this.
