Patricia - I just read your post from April 16 and I could almost have written your post myself! I think it is very common to have family deal with the cancer in denial -- that they "pretend" that it is all over with and life goes on.
I have a friend (met her at radiation) who feels the same way and we talk about how to end it all if we feel ready. Sick huh? But we are totally in agreement about it.
My daughters and sisters deal with the cancer in denial.
I guess the key thing is we can't change them so we have to change us. We have to realize that it is hard for them too and they are terrified of losing us. They just dont' want to express it.
Take care. God bless you. Han
