Today I had an appointment with my Bangor oncologist. He had the report from the CT scans done in Boston and e-mails from my Boston oncologist about her thinking as to whether or not to continue the vaccine program. There seems to be something going on in the lymph system of my lungs, and Boston wanted to know if Bangor wanted to discontinue the vaccine and begin a chemo therapy right away. Bangor feels that the situation in not critical and that if Boston feels there is still time to invest and decide if it will work, Bangor is willing to give that time. I have had 7 vaccines since February. Since this is a very new trial, it may take 8, or 10 or more to really know if something good is going on.
I am encouraged that both oncologists base much of their decision on how I perceive and they perceive I am doing. I am feeling quite well. I still get tired by the end of the day, but I pretty much do as I want. If I felt much worse or had symptoms to indicate that I am doing more poorly, they would make their judgments differently.
Things are not better by leaps and bounds, but they are not worse by leaps and bounds either. We are in unchartered territory relating to the vaccine. There are still plenty of options available to me on the conventional therapies list. I am getting good care both in Bangor and Boston.
I don’t know what you might like to know at this point. Feel free to ask me any questions by return e-mail and I will try to answer as best I can.
I still remain so very thankful to God for His faithfulness to me and to you for your faithfulness to me in your prayers. He knows the beginning from the end and I rest in His wisdom and the knowledge that He wants what is best for me as you all do, too.
I am thankful to be continuing with the vaccine trial.
