Hi Ally, you are in my thoughts frequently and I am praying for your visit to onc to be a positive one. Regarding your question, I have read the same thing as you have. BC can be affected by many things including weight, diabetes. But it seems that it is never only one contributing thing. Many things play a part, but genetics plays a part in every illness. My mom, me and my dtr all have had bc. Mom died 3 yrs ago of another illness altogether even though her bc was quite advanced, (lived 15 yrs after that) my dtr was diagnosed 3 years ago, very tiny tumor and is doing well so far. She had bilateral mastectomy so whe would not have to deal with any more tumors in the breast, had reconstruction. I've had it in each breast and second time it was a bigger tumor (the one which has recurred) I told my onc "it doesn't take a rocket scientist or any test to tell my family that ours is genetic bc). But remember that everyone is an individual and don't base your bc on another woman's bc. You are a unique person. I'm routing for you! Hugs.
