My dear friend and chauffer, Marcia Smith, and I returned this afternoon from a three day Boston visit. The purpose of the visit was to receive the 5th vaccine and to have biopsy of the vaccine site and the site where just fluid with dead cancer cells had been injected. This was also done the very first vaccine shot time.
I have been asking about learning anything about what might be going on. The usual response is that these things can take a very long time to show anything. The tumor marker numbers are up and that sometimes happens before they go down. Not usually with Anne, but it could. My liver numbers are perfect and consistently so and Dr. is very pleased
So, today was to get the biopsies. The welting continues to be very good. Each vaccine has produced very nice welts right from the get go of the shot. Dr. asked me about the other site. “Does not itch. I don’t think it is reacting at all.”
“OK - - Let’s have a look.” “Oh yes! It IS reacting! See - - right there! That looks wonderful. It means that the immune system is reacting and the vaccine is searching out cancer cells. This is just what we have been hoping for. This is wonderful”
The dr is so very pleased. She spent almost the whole biopsy visit remarking about how good this is and that she has always considered me one of her “star” patients. She thought from the very beginning of the trial that we would get some good results. I have 7 more vaccines to go and then we may try to get more fluid (if I am even making fluid by then which I may not be) to make more vaccine if necessary, or the dr is already talking about some other trials that might be helpful to me.
I feel very well. I get tired in the afternoon, but that is to be expected with the immune system working to fight off something (cancer cells). I have a dry cough still after having fluid drawn off, but that, too is normal according to the dr. The 2000 cc I had drawn off on the 17th was the largest amount so far and it will take some time for my lung to get back to normal.
I Praise God for all His goodness to me and for each step along the way. Thank you, too, to all of you who continue to pray for me. Our God is hearing and is answering.
Thankful for strength for every day.
Anne
