My vaccine trial seems to be going well. I have had 4 vaccines to date and all have welted nicely. The trial team is happy to see welts as that means there is a reaction at the vaccine site and that is a good sign. I have fluid around my lung again and am quite short of energy and breath if I do anything but sit. I have asked for a thorocentesis for sometime between now and March 18 when I go back to Boston. Mr onc. there wants to see the difference after I have the fluid drawn off. I was to have it drawn off on Wednesday in Boston, but they could not give me conscious sedation at the clinic to which I was assigned, so I would not have it done without sedation. The same dr. who drew it off in Oct. 06 was scheduled to do it again, but I would not chance the excruciating pain I experienced the first time. He'll not do it that way on me again. Hopefully by the 19th I should have some indication about the tumor markers and what might be going on with them. So far the only info I have is that my liver function is good. The vaccine has been shot into my left thigh, right thigh, left arm and then back to my left thigh. My welt is about an inch in the center where the vaccine needle goes in and then about 2 inches around for the whole welt reaction area. It itches for the first few days, then quiets down. Ask me any questions you like, as I really don't know what you all might want to know. I feel like I am doing very well. Boston, some of you may have noticed, is not very friendly to me these days. Every trip has had bad weather involved - Snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain, flooding, you name it. My gracious friend and her daughter have taken me early to avoid the bad weather, and then we have stayed at her daughter's home nearby. They are such a blessing and a God-send.
