Hi everyone,
I haven't posted in a while. Recovering from bilateral mastectomy. I went for second opinion to an oncologist I was really impressed with. She suggested a taxo and a platin type drug. I agree but I can research till I am blue in the face to find which combos are really doing the best. I am triple negative again. Had CAF 6x and 35 rads. the first time. Recurrence happened 9 months after first treatment ended.I saw an article that said triple negative recurrence really needs a third generation adjuvant chemo regime that eliminates residual disease. O.K. understand that but is Xeloda and carboplatin--third gen?
So, I understand either cisplatin or carboplatin for the platin part of the suggested regime, but would I be better with taxotere or taxol or neither one of those and lean more towards the Gemzar, Navelbine, Xeloda chemo's.
Anyone with up to date research on this subject or opinions? I am seeing my regular oncologist tomorrow and will need to make an informed decision soon. I am emotionally unsure of losing my hair again. I know I talked about this before, but chemo was so easy compared to the emotional problems I had with the hair loss.
YadaYadaYada I know it grows back and I really love my new hair.
Please take care everyone and know that all of you are in my prayers.
Love,
Debbie
