Diane, how terrible! At least I am treated wonderfully in my oncologist's office. My port is accessed in a private room. My doctor will sometimes come and call patients from the waiting room himself. We can choose to get our chemo. in a group room or a private room. In the group room it is common to share experiences with others. Our nurses know our names, our spouse's names, our kid's names, our pet's names... and we know theirs. The doctor is being pressured to become part of the hospital center. You can read about my last stay in the hospital above. I like things how they are and am afraid that the hospital would make the office impersonal. I worked in that hospital and even before having cancer myself, every chemotherapy agent (as well as meds. for really critical patients) was sent with a prayer for the patient.
That is the care everyone deserves. I am a better pharmacist for having experienced cancer and my husband is a better doctor for going through this with me. I always had the impression that you are in some form of health care area. You are pretty sharp! I am glad you are out there as an advocate.
By the way, nice sketch!
