Your answer..."yes" to everything: Navelbine can cause severe GI upset so an antiemetic will be given 30-60 minutes before. Afterwards you will be given instructions on taking antinausea meds at home. It is much easier to prevent nausea than chase it so set a timer and take that med around the clock for the first 2-3 days. There are some people who are hypersensitive to this drug and will develop chills, an itchy rash, chest pain, facial/chest flushing, hypotension.......epinephrine is always available should you require this. Both Navelbine and Gemzar occasionally cause alopecia(complete baldness) or some "thinning" of hair. Chemotherapy was rough for me--had Cytoxan, Adriamycin, and 5-FU. Now that year is just a "bad memory" for me and I can live with that!
