Ruby - when a tumor is large, it is very common to have chemo treatment first. Sometimes the tumors shrink to nearly nothing, sometimes there is a small tumor is left. They are much easier to remove completely when they are small. My tumor was not large, so I had a lumpectomy then chemo and rads.

Are you on estrogen blockers?
