Hello,
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 went through 4 AC & 4 Taxol in September-December. Did my mastectomy after than then reconstructive in 2011. Was doing great until I have infections in August 2011.
Anyway when nothing help, Was having severe tugging pain for a year, going through different physical therapy and surgeon not interested to fixed the problem anymore, so I went to get a second opinion and new surgeon re-do reconstructive surgery putting in better and small/narrow implants May 2012. All the pain that I've experienced over a year went away the day after surgery and feeling much better.
Was doing great until when the last JP drains was removed a little over 2 1/2 weeks after surgery, develop a 104 fever the next day. I've been in the hospital being pumped with heavy IV antibiotic for 12 days. Finally figured out what type of bacteria. It is not on my implants or tissue but its on my skin. It was a "staph" infection. But wonder why I only get sick 2 1/2 weeks after surgery?
To be safe, surgeon removed implants & tissue and will put them back once infection under control just to be safe. I didn't have any more fever for at least 5-6 days now. Skin no longer red and incision look good. My dilemma is I have an option to put the implants back tomorrow and would like some imput form anyone out there?
This site helped me quiet a lot going through chemo and recovering and I am always blessed to find those whose bee there for me.
Thank You.
