Kathy, by no means are you off the wall with this question...like you said we don't have too much dignity left with this.
What the nurses did was put a surgical hat on me before they wheeled me out of the room for surgery. What I would do is ask for it up front when you get there. The nurses, at least mine, wanted me to be as comfortable as possible before and after surgery. So do whatever makes you feel good. Sure don't need any extra stress and they do understand. PS: I had surgery last August, finished chemo week of Christmas, had implants put in about 10 wks ago.
