Hello my story is different but I too thought that the expander would be a breeze and that everything would go perfectly. My expander became compromised and had to be removed. Then I had to wait and do a lat flap. My skin is very thin and wouldn't expand. Happened a second time with my second mastectomy. Started recon on left breast in 2008 finished in 2009. Had preventative mastectomy to the right in Feb 2010 finished in July 2011. Mine situation was not typical. But I am very happy with my two implants and tattoos. Complications do arise. But it only causes a bump in the road to our final destination.
