Mastectomy Pain

I had a bilateral mastectomy on 3-8-12. I still have the 4 drains in (hopefully they will be removed on Friday). My question to those that have had a mastectomy is this: I have been having pain/burning in that muscle that is in front of the armpits. Does this eventually subside? It feels like something has been rubbing the skin raw there and nothing is even touching it. Please tell me that this is temporary. I don't think I can live with this for the rest of my life. If it wasn't for this area I would be off of pain meds. Can't seem to be able to relieve this burning pain though. Thanks, Roseanne
