Hi Cheryl.. I too flew to New Orleans for surgery... I had a BMX and Hip flaps in July 2011 and I had a complication due to the skin being too thin after the MX and I got skin necrosis... and as a result at the two week post op point, my right breast incision opened and was leaking... it progressively worsened and I went back to New Orleans for the DIEP surgery (on the right side). I had my stage II in November and here I am three months post op and looking good... I still have a tweak or two in my future, but almost done. It is amazing what these doctors can do... I tell you my story because recovery problems do happen, but it is rare...Make sure you communicate often with your doctor post op... and if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask for help.
