Yes Deb is right from my understanding the expanders can stay in practically forever, so you can take time with your decision
I was 42 married and knew from the get-go I wanted a masc and I wanted immediate reconstruction
I had a Bi Lat Masc in feb 2011 w/ tissue expanders recon, chemo from April to Sept 2011 swap surgery in Dec 7, 2011, my Plastic likes to wait 12 weeks post chemo from surgery and got nipples 12/30/11.
First I am AMAZED with the results
truly you would be hard pressed to tell my boobies werent anything accept what I was born with (except for small scar which is fading)
There are so many personal reasons for your choice and ultimately its what is important to you, but if you fear reconstruction or the results Id say not too it has come so far the results are just amazing!
Good Luck!
