I agree, the decision is totally personal. I had a bilateral mast. in September and am currently going through the reconstruction. I am 46 and married, and I thought it was important to my self esteem to have breasts. I had expanders put in during my mast. and just had a fill on them yesterday. I have been getting about 120 ml to 180 ml in each expander at each fill. Other than being a little uncomfortable for the first day or so it doesn't really hurt at all. The worst part about the expanders is I can't sleep on my side. You said you had an expander inserted already. If you don't have the reconstruction will you have to have surgery to have it removed? That may be something to consider. If you have to have surgery anyway, why not go ahead with reconstruction. Do you wear a mast. bra with a prostesis? And if you do, is it comfortable and do you mind wearing it? I think the decision you make is very personal and you have to do what you feel is right for you. Also, I don't think you have to make the decision right away. You can probably take a break, let your body recover and then make your decision later. Talk to your surgeon about that and see what she/he says. Good luck with what ever you decide.
