Corrinne, I had radiation the 1st time around with the lumpectomy and eventually that breast did get softer...not as soft as the other one but not hard like it was.
Now that I've had the double mastectomy I'm having recon and the plastic surgeon said it takes some time to stretch out the muscle where I had the radiation at(left side). That side tends to be more tender.
I know another lady who did not have radiation and one side was higher than the other after she had her swaps for just a little while and then it reshaped it self...don't know how it does that but she said it did.
Did you ask the plastic surgeon about this?
It's interesting about the Port...my Onc told me the day I had my last Chemo(abt 1 1/2 wks ago) to have it taken out.
