Kathy, I, too, had rad after the expander was put in. My expander was always rock solid from the day I got it. I did find the rad tightened up all my chest/shoulder muscles, so I went through some physical therapy to loosen them again after the rad was done.
I finished rad the end of Feb and had my recon surgery mid-May. The silicon implant is nice and soft and my chest and shoulder has loosened up again.
You need to keep doing your stretching exercises while getting rad to prevent this tightening. I had a bad fall midway through my rads - fell tight on my expander (OUCH!) so I couldn't keep up the exercises.
