Hi Elaine: Congratulations that your surgery went so well for you. I agree those expander implants are uncomfortable. My PS used the expander implant that would have stayed in thus, no replacement implant would have been used. However, thinking about it now not sure that would have been such a great result as the implant would have been oversized and than volume reduced once breast symmetry achieved. One would think that wrinkling of the implant after volume reduced would be noticable. Anyways, after my infection and more scar tissue appears that a Latissmus Flap and implant are now needed plus having radiated skin doesn't help. Just for your info. recommended by my radiation team I used a Glaxal Baced Cream on my breast and it works amazing for moisturization etc.. My PS commented on how soft my skin has become since the surgery to remove the implant. I told him what I was using, he was quite pleased. Waiting 6 mths after radiation doesn't surprise me at all, six weeks seems so fast. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Let me know how you do.
