Good Recon Surgery

I am faced with having a mastectomy and reconstruction. I'm scared and have started talking to ladies who have been through this. How do you know who is good? I have a friend who picked Dr. Massey in Charleston and Chicago. She had a horrible experience. Her surgery failed and she had to go back to surgery 4 times in one week. Her reconstruction left her with no breast and a big hole in her chest. She had to pay a large amount of money upfront to have the surgery and is now getting bills everyday in the mail. She is undergoing radiation and chemo, is out 10's of thousands of dollars to travel and have the surgery. All she has to show for it is a hole in her chest, mounting medical bills and NO BREAST! I wont be using Dr. Massey, but does anyone know of any good surgeons who stand behind their work and not just take your money and run?
