I had bilateral lat flap done over the course of two years. My back scar is nearly invisible and if was skinny enough I would were a bikini top no questions asked! Most people who do NOT know that I have had reconstruction would NEVER know unless I told them. My breasts, while not as nice as natural ones, are not scary nor a bunch of scars. The major difference is that my areolas are much larger than before. My PS wanted to incorporate my mastectomy scars into the tattoos. If/when I have the tattoos redone, I will ask him to make them smaller, regardless of the scars. I saw my PS this Friday after a year. My big complaint now is that I have fat, flabby arm pits. He said it is the tail of the breast and that lipo may help. I am willing to try because the flab gets pinched in my bra band. I had lat flap because I did not want to sacrifice my stomach muscle. I am five years out in August!
