Emily -- I bet you'll be amazed at the ease of this surgery. I can say that... I had 3 tissue expanders, went 8 wks with nothing, and fought a seroma (fluid tumor) over & over for 8 months. I have endured more 'breast/chest' surgeries than anyone I've talked to. The switch from expander to implant was like a walk in the park on a cool spring day. Very little post op pain, the final scar was resected (due to my many surg.) and has healed more beautifully that I had ever dreamed. It is the most wonderful feeling to be able to "ROLL OVER" in bed and not have to raise up on your elbows!
My surgeon felt with my history.... that saline would be my best bet. I never doubted her or wanted to go silicone. I have a Mentor Saline round medium profile (if I remember right...)and it's got 600ml capacity. I'm a 'full figured girl' -- 2XL shirt (18-20 clothes) I never liked my shirts tight - and now I have pretty perky boobs and it's cool
(They don't droop or touch my belly!! I know TMI...LOL) I got a lift on the left side when they did my switch and now that it's healed I'm very happy. As for the 'feel' my right is very - almost identical in texture and firmness to the lifted left. I'm amazed! I'm getting my 'nipple' surgery on the 25th. I didn't think I would go that route, but now that it's so similar, I think it will make it more complete. I just want to be able to go the local "Y" and shower without feeling like an alien. In a regular or a sports bra - there is no noticable difference. I bought a new bra about 1mo post op and it's a 42B cup is full but the C was a little big on the right -- way TMI - sorry. When I don't have a bra on my right (implated side) is more rounded and the left a little more 'cone' shaped -- but I don't go out bra-less, though my husband tells me NO ONE would ever know!!
I pray you're surgery is as good for you as mine was for me. Let God Bless you with a wonderful outcome to a rough disease.
Many Hugs & Prayers!
