Hi
I had a left breast lumpectomy in Feb 02 without clean margins. My surgeon said another lumpectomy wasn't a good idea and suggested the whole mastectomy. I wanted immediate recon but because I was going to have chemo then rads it was not a good fit then.
I waited 6 years before I began recon. I started with a tissue expander in Jan 08, it failed in March 08 because the radiated skin broke through.
In April 08 I had a lat flap ( skin and muscle from the back ) it was not large enough on it's own so I had to have an expander also. I have just had my expander replaced with a silicone implant the end of Feb 09. I will had a lift to the good side sometime this summer.
I am very satisfied with the results thus far.
