Hi, a complete newbie here coming for my own advice (see post today) BUT, when I saw this post, thought I'd give you the benefit of my professional life (I'm off on leave now after mastectomy)--Contact the Job Accommodation Network (it is through the Office of Disability Employment Policy--Department of Labor)--they can give you all kinds of information on accommodations available to you and your employer when you are ready to return to work, whenever that will be--everything from lifting equipment to do the heavy work for you to flexible scheduling to allow for frequent breaks to deal with fatigue and fuzziness post surgery. Losing a part of the body does not necessarily mean losing your status in life/job--it may mean learning to think about your tasks of daily living differently. Good Luck!
