I finished my chemo but before the 2nd last cycle, my WBC count dipped to below the threshold that was acceptable for chemo to proceed. I had to wait 1 week, and the WBC came back up.
Your oncologist would have mentioned a drug called Neupogen which stimulates WBC production in your body. After I got my 2nd last cycle, I was given a course of Neupogen to ensure I got my last cycle.
The drug is expensive, and I have no drug plan. But Amgen has a program that might help and they provided me with a course of vials. I had to pay for the second course myself. It was worth it in my opinion... getting the chemo was my priority. The second priority was to not get any infection since a low WBC makes you susceptible to getting an infection, and my 2 kids bring home all sorts of bugs! In fact, the Neupogen probably saved me from a trip to the hospital since both my kids came down with really BAD colds at the time that my WBC was at its lowest point following my round of chemo!
I hope this helps.
