I wanted to compare notes with those who has gone through a mastectomy, but no recon. i had my single mastectomy almost 6 months ago. About 2 weeks ago, my armpit area where the scar is was bothering me. It has always been a bit stiff, and i do my stretching exercises. my mobility is good, but i need to work at moving my arm in a full vertical circle.
2 weeks ago, when i sneezed or coughed, i felt a jab in the scar area... my scar area is not in the best shape -- i still need to loosen up the fascia underneath but i figure it takes time.
the jab comes and goes, but the area is getting more stiff, and I'm getting worried that it could be the start of lymphedema!!
If anyone can share with me their experiences 6 months post surgery, scar management/stiffness of the area and puffiness under the arm pit, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Each morning when i wake up, it's the most uncomfortable... i massage the area trying to re-route the lymphatic fluid... don't get me wrong, I'm not swollen up trmendously, but it's been puffy since the surgery and when the drain came out. I thought the discomfort would lessen, but since 2-3 weeks ago, the discomfort/stiffness seems to be more bothersome!!!!
Should I be very concerned???
