You will have your hair back in no time, your reconstruction and you'll be the beautiful person who you are inside. You have no need for anyone who cannot be supportive through out this. It will be behind you sooner than you think. I too had long hair(dark though) and it was somewhat fun to get to experiment with cut hair styles that were short during the grow out period. It's now long and fun again. My husband's opinion is that he found someone else.
Just a guess of course. You deserve better. You'll find better too.
