Thanks Sharada!
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! I'd been previously seeing this psychologist for a driving anxiety issue, so he already knew me well when I received the breast cancer diagnosis. I didnt "have to have" any sessions. It was my decision to becase I wanted to know I was makign teh best decisions for me, and I felt this was teh one perosn in my life who knew me inside adn oud yet was not as personally invested in it as a family member might be. We discussed the breast options/issues on several ocassions as I was in the decision making process (which besides reconstruction, also included deciding whether to have a mastectomy or a lumpectomy and rads). It took me about 3 weeks to make all the decisions. My psychologist was, adn still is of the opinion that I made the decisions taking all the important factors into consideration, and that it was a psychologically healthy decision for me.
Please feel free to ask me if you have questions.
