I waited 6 years before reconstruction myself.
I wanted to do the least invasive proceedure because I didn't want to give up alot of time healing after a major surgery like a tram.
I choose expander with implant and began the proceedures in January. I had had radiation myself and knew the risks that it might not hold.
During fill number seven I ruptured in the office.
My PS repaired the damage and waited while I decided what I wanted to do. I could choose one of three other proceedures.
Lat Flap
Tram Flap
Diep Flap
I have already had two c-sections and he wasn't giving me any promises that I wouldn't have trouble with the surgery.
I choose lat flap with expander. I am currently getting fills at two week intervels. We are taking it slow because there is still a small amount of radiated skin left on my chest.
I am at 360 cc's and my PS tells me things are looking good.
I am sorry that you have a PS that can't rememeber your case. If you never wanted to do recon like you said why did you start?
If you haven't see him this summer who has been doing your fills?
Lat flap is not as hard as you might think. There are about 5 of us that have gone through that surgery in the last few months. When I was considering it the ladies here gave me great information. Other than driving or showering I was able to dress, eat, do some light housework ect. You still have options if the expander fails. But at this point you may want to consider not wasting anymore time on a proceedure that is not going well.
My PS also has good results with some women who had radiation. I am very thinned skinned to begin with and that didn't help my situation.
Ask all the questions you need to we are all here for you.
Breath in- Breath out. Try to enjoy your day.
