Hi Anne,
Although the other girls are right and the numbness can be permanent it may not be. I had my bi-lat with immediate recon in 2006 and even though they removed my nipples and then put them back, I still have some feelings in my left one and the only numbness I have is a small area under my right arm and around my right nipple. All the numbness is on the cancer side and I only had a total of about 7 nodes removed at two different times. I had the left one removed too just in case. It came back anyways but that's another story.
I'd say I took a good month or two to heal but was back at work a little over a week after surgery. Hope you have a speedy recovery and get some feelings back.
Hugs,
Penny
