I'm very glad you've brought up this subject Julia, since I never even heard of lymphedema before. It's now four weeks since my mastectomy and lymph node removal and I have swelling under both of my arms. Oddly enough, it happened two weeks after the surgery when I woke up one Monday morning and had those two, what felt like big knots, there. Under my arms is also the areas where everything is numb. Saw the surgeon a week ago to have the last drain removed and he didn't seem concerned when I told him, just said it'll go away in time. Now I'm getting a bit worried about maybe already having lymphedema and need to get a sleeve and glove fitted soon. Plans are to go to Europe later in the year and since they haven't built the bridge yet, I'll have to fly.
