I, too, have been very confused about this for the same reasons you have stated -- really mixed opinions. I just wrote to the doctor on the "ask the doctor" board about his opinion -- you can check that out, and I was kind of "told off" on the lymphedema board about even asking. I am glad to hear more about this from those who have made choices. I thought this was the place to ask.
