The NFL needs to police its own. This crap with players turning the game into a joke is getting out of hand. Joe Horn, Terrell Owens, Keyshawn Johnson, Ray Lewis, Jeremy Shockey, Warren Sapp, Bill Romanowski. All of these guys are giving the NFL a bad name, and the league won't (shouldn't) sit for it! The latest nut case is Horn, who pulled out a cell phone after he scored a touchdown against the Giants on Sunday night. This was not only a pre-planned event, it wreaks of hot dogging. It's one thing to be confident in your ability, but to say that after you score a second touchdown you will call someone on your cell phone, is just making a mockery of the game. The league fined Horn a cool $30,000, but he already said that he didn't care how much he was fined. Which says to me that he really doesn't care about the game, but what it can get for Joe Horn. These guys make me sick!! They aren't in the spotlight enough, so they have to resort to going beyond the peramiters of the game to bring attention to themselves. I blame coach Jim Haslett. He said that he wasn't going to fine his receiver, and "that the league should take care of this matter". Well, that just shows me what kind of leader he is, a spineless one who won't stand up to one of his players. Who is running the show anyway? I guess the inmates are truly running the asylum. Horn and any other goof who degrades the game should be suspended. The NFL prides itself on its image and its product, but when parts of that product go on their own and degrade those who played before them, that needs to be addressed, by both the individual teams and the league. By not taking action against his own player, Haslett has basically said that his players can do whatever they want, and they will deal with the consequences later. Shame on him. He should have benched Horn on the spot, then suspended him. But he didn't have the guts to do so! Then why should any other coach take action, if this guy lets his players get away with anything? Horn is dead wrong when he says that he is providing entertainment to the fans. Sorry Joe, I disagree! You are there to play football, not to make a phone call to benefit your endorsements, which he will now probably get just like Owens with the Sharpie! I am sick of seeing guys just do whatever they want, while making a mockery of the game that has given them their bigger than life status, and is paying them riches beyond our wildest imagination! Someday this will all come back to haunt those who are the purveyors of these deeds, andmaybe the fans will recognize this, and stop going to games. Don't hold your breath!
