I have written several columns in the past dealing with the NBA and how low it has sunk in terms of popularity. Players constantly getting into trouble both on and off the court, or spouting off to reporters, saying negative things about the league. Now, one of the Portland Jail-Blazers and a well known trouble maker has spouted off to a newspaper, and he should pay a heavy price for this one. Rasheed Wallace has never been known to be too bright, simply because if you watch him play, he almost nightly gets into trouble with the officials and gets technical fouls and/or gets ejected from games. Now he has gone off in an Oregon newspaper the "Oregonian" about the NBA, and this one will pack a lot of punch, but on the wrong side, especially for Wallace. In his remarks, Wallace proceeds to say that the NBA is exploiting black athletes, and using them to promote their own product. No kidding! I thought the players are the product. And he went on to rip comissioner David Stern, also he went on to bash the league for drafting high school players. He said that the high school players had no idea about the business of the league, and that "they no nothin about nothin bout the league", and that the league is wrong for allowing them to play. Well, if memory serves me correctly, I don't remember Wallace walking down the aisle at North Carolina to receive his diploma for......I need some help here, what was his major again? Oh, I forgot, he left school after 2 years for the riches of the NBA. What makes this guy the spokesperson for the league? I really feel that Commissioner Stern would rather handle matters like this personally. But the damage has already been done. Rasheed Wallace is a menace to the league, to his team, and most of all to himself. This is just an angry person who seems to feel that he is being targeted by the league, and if you watch him play, you will see why he is a target. He constantly berates officials, commits flagrant fouls on a nightly basis, and so on. What does this guy have to be angry about? He makes milions of dollars playing basketball, something he didn't have to go to college to learn, has no education past high school, face it, how much schooling do you think he received at UNC?, and yet he continually bites the hand that feeds him. Now the league must take action, This guy needs to learn that you don't look a gift horse in the mouth!! He should be suspended by the league and or Portland, without pay, and he should apologize for his insane remarks. Portland should just cut all ties with this clown, and no other team should sign him. Then when he is finished with basketball and the millions stop rolling in, maybe he will get the message, but he won't. What nerve this guy has, criticizing the league that pays him millions, while a lot of people are wondering where their next meal will come from, and how they are going to pay their bills!! This is exactly why I loathe the NBA. Not too many brightly lit bulbs on this particular runway!
