I must say that college football is in the best shape ever. WRONG!!!! The BCS got just what it deserved, but USC didn't. I thought that the whole idea behind the BCS was to put the number 1 and 2 ranked teams at the end of the season into the championship game of the BCS bowl games. That is the idea, right? Again, WRONG!!!! Apparently someone forgot to tell the computer system that puts the BCS rankings out that number 1 is supposed to play number 2. But don't tell Oklahoma that they are number 3 in both polls. I don't have a problem with LSU being number 2, they won their conference. I don't have a problem with USC being number one, they won their conference. I don't have a problem with Oklahoma being number 3, BUT THEY DIDN'T WIN THEIR CONFERENCE!!! It is not rocket science here folks. I don't care what the BCS rankings indicate, the two best teams right now are not playing each other in the national championship game. How can anyone justify Oklahoma being given a spot in the title game after getting their clocks cleaned by Kansas State last week, and losing the Big 12 championship, thus dropping the Sooners to number 3, BEHIND BOTH USC AND LSU! It defies logic that those in charge here, both the NCAA and the BCS have managed to bungle the very system that was created to avoid a mess like this. Now I can't wait to hear the try at justifying this ridiculous mess. It has been said before, and written about countless times, but it is time for a playoff system in college football. This is the only way out, but the big money bowls won't let that happen, and take away the spotlight. The NCAA can work with the bowls to create a playoff system by using the bowls. Put every conference in the country into the playoff scenario, make it an even 16 conferences, take those winners, and put them into a 4 week playoff, just like the NFL. All teams will play a full or nearly full schedule within their conference, and the winner goes to the tournament. It's not that hard!! But the NCAA is making it hard by not even looking at the enormous potential a college playoff has. It could be just as good as March Madness, and just as popular. But that is not going to happen. All we will get is more nonsense from the powers that be, that the BCS is good for football, and is the only way to determine a champion. I have a better way of determining a champion......How about PLAYING THE GAMES ON THE FIELD, AND NOT IN THE COMPUTER ROOM. Take your calculations and your formulas and shove them. You are only making yourselves look more ridiculous by constantly having to change something within the system to make it better. But instead of making it better, it keeps getting worse. I love the phrase that one of ESPN's Sportscenter anchors used this week. He referred to the BCS as the "Broken Computer System". That pretty much says it all!! By they way, can anyone tell me what a Sooner is?
