This column is always reserved for sports chatter. But for today, I will take time to remind all of us that this time of year always evokes memories, both good and bad in our lives. It is a time to pause and to truly give thanks for all that we have. Whether it is the freedom to do just about whatever we want, to write a column like this, to speak our minds, no matter who agrees or disagrees with us, and so on! But we should give thanks for our families. There is nothing better than sitting down to a meal with your family, to reflect, tell stories, laugh and remember days gone by. It is a time for family, so please use it. Remember your loved ones who have passed on, they will be watching and probably listening, so tell those stories as they happened. Thanksgiving is a time of rememberance. So please take a few moments out of your holiday to remember those who have gone to war for us, fought for us, were injured for us, or gave the ultimate sacrifice for us, their lives in battle, so that we might remain free. It's not corny to say those things, because they are so true. It is because those that have gone before us in war and conflict, did so to keep our freedom intact. I don't agree with what is currently going on in Iraq, and I think those that have died over there this year did so out of love for our country, but that they were sent into battle for a cause that I'm not sure benefits anyone here at home. But to those families who lost loved ones in Iraq, my condolences. It will not be a joyous holiday season for those families, so keep them in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season. To all, have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving holiday. I will return Monday with another sports column!!
