The NFL is into the second half of the 2003 season, and the one thing that is for certain, is that nothing is for certain! I mean, look at what is happening around the league. Last years Super Bowl teams, Oakland and Tampa Bay are a combined 6-12. No chance that they will meet again in February is there? Kansas City is making Dick (cry me a river ) Vermeil look like a genius. Speaking of genius, how about Baltimore? What happened to the greatest defense ever, after their one and only Super Bowl win? What's the coach's name in Baltimore? Brian Billick, is that it? What happened to his genius status? They are struggling in the lousiest division in football. Speaking of that, how bout them Steelers? They were so happy to finally get a win over the Cardinals, they celebrated like it was a playoff victory on Sunday. Far from it boys!! I hate to say it, but Dallas has to be the most unbelieveable turnaround in recent times. How does Bill Parcells do it? Give him credit, wherever he goes, he wins! Does anyone want to win the NFC West? Seattle had the opportunity to win this division, but two losses in the last two weeks, alllowed the Niners to get back in the race. What's wrong with Miami? All of a sudden, Dave Wanstadt is on the hot seat, along with Jim Haslett in New Orleans. Two surprise teams are Tennessee and Carolina. Possible Super Bowl preview? Hardly. I see the Titans and Chiefs in the AFC Championship, and I will go out on a limb and say that the Cowboys and Eagles will end up in the NFC Championship. Cincinnati is a team that is probably on the verge of really turning things around. Apparently Marvin Lewis is a good fit for the bengals. Add Dan Reeves, Herman Edwards and Jim Fassel to the list of coaches in trouble. Steve Spurrier got a reprieve on Sunday with a must win over Seattle. Detroit has won 3 games with Steve Mariucci as coach, could they be turning things around? Kordell Stewart is on the bench for 'Da Bears'. Do I have to write anything else? Peyton Manning is a good QB, but the Colts can't seem to win the big game(s). I will be going on vacation on February 1, Super Bowl Sunday, and I will have to suffer watching the game on a criuse ship in San Juan, heading for the south Caribbean. Tough life, but someone has to do it. The NFL is the best thing going, and it keeps your interest. What a great league!
More random thoughts a month from now!
