Posted by Vipers Strike! on 3/16/2002, 2:37 am Might as well mark a 3rd game down for TV-Bir, cause do you think Mobile or Pensacola will finish above the Dawgs or the Vipers? Wow, just think, the 3 teams in the Midwest Conference (Peoria, Louisville, & Wichita) have to be smiling cause the Cheaters can't go. That means only one out of those 3 won't make the playoffs. Let's assume this: Tulsa & Wichita win their 1st-round games. According to the new playoff rules, since they're only 176 miles apart, they would play one another in the 2nd round & the TV-Bir winner would play the West Division winner (either Bakersfield, Fresno, San Diego, or Hawaii) in the 2nd round. And the team with the better record hosts the game, so the TV-Bir winner might have to travel out to the West coast or vice versa...interesting...Go Hawaii!!! And if Tulsa & Louisville win their 1st-round games, the TV-Bir winner would play Louisville in the 2nd round since Louisville is closer to Alabama than Tulsa. And if Tulsa, Peoria, & TV win their 1st-round games, Peoria would play TV in the 2nd round since Peoria is closer to Huntsville than Tulsa (by 5 miles to be exact). But if Tulsa, Peoria, & Bir win their 1st-round games, Peoria would play Tulsa in the 2nd round since Peoria is closer to Tulsa than Bir. And Bir would play the West Division winner.
Yeah, I just read the new playoff format. That kinda sucks cause we'll only be able to meet in the first round from now on. We could have the 2 best teams in the league playing in the 1st round & that's a bummer. Not only that, but the Vipers will never be able to play the Cheaters for the Cup ever again since the National Conference Champ plays the American Conference Champ. Plus, the National Conference teams as a whole are much better than the American Conference teams as a whole.
