Posted by SF on 6/22/2001, 2:22 pm Hampered with what was believed to be a strained right hip, Proctor was informed he had bursitis and a pulled hamstring. ''It was a lot worse than I thought,'' Proctor said. Proctor will miss at least Saturday's game against Roanoke and next Saturday's game at Memphis. Shane Seamons, who kicked at Jacksonville State and North Alabama, worked out with the team Tuesday night. Former UNA kicker J.D. Byars took his turn Wednesday night. Byars, 29, played for the Lions from 1990-92. He is currently the Shoals Bureau Chief for Channel 48. ''I didn't think I did all that bad, considering how long it's been since I kicked,'' said Byars, who was clearly hurting after it was over. ''It may be a godsend. This may be just the thing I need to get in shape.'' Byars was more accurate kicking extra points and field goals, but Seamons was better at kicking the ball off the net on kickoffs. Vipers head coach Bret Munsey said he would take another look at both players tonight and make a decision Friday.
Furthermore: The medical news Vipers place-kicker Michael Proctor received Wednesday was not good.
