Posted by Jeremy In response to your questions i will offer my advice, First off i will say i have raced now for 15 years and have a proven record of winning championships and races. As far as finding sponsors goes, its nearly impossible to find a sponsor for a halfway substantial amount of money, especially if you have no proven record to sell yourself with, not to mention the economy that we are in at this time. I would recommend family members or friends who may own businesses for sponsorship, this would just about be your only possibility. In response to the Buck Baker Racing school, I myself have recently returned home from Rockingham North carolina where i attended and successfully graduated the basic course, it is a great school and you can learn alot of great things there as well! As for wether it can be a gateway into bigger things, who knows? maybe its possible, but in my opinion, its not likely to happen. If you are truly serious about becoming a racer, i would suggest attending races and volunteering for some pit crew work, this way you will learn the much needed mechanical aspects of a racecar and you will also be able to see what resources are available as well. I feel that knowing how to work on a racecar can help land you in a driving position. I would also recommend saving money for a year or 2 while doing some volunteer crew work, this way you will have saved the money to purchase a car and you will also learn how to work on it while you are saving. I feel that learning how to work on a car will help make up for your inexperience in driving as well. Last but certainly not least, it is important to understand that racing is a money driven sport and is about leveraging opportunities and contacts that you know who have money to help you accomplish what it is that you want to do. I would also recommend building relationships with individuals who have the funding to help you accomplish your goal. Good luck, and chase your dream!
