So many people seem to be using bow string tight lines these days. Unless fishing tight against snags or reeds etc I can't see the benifit of doing so. Surely the more tight lines cutting through the water the more times the carp will encounter them and be made wary and maybe spook, this being even more so on small waters. It makes sense to me that a slack line, where possible, is the best option if using a running or a semi fixed lead. With running lead there is minimum resistance and with semi fixed the rig should be relied on to hook the fish and not a tight line.
Have I got it all wrong? Am I missing the point? What is your opinion?
