I think your son must be very happy to be allowed to have such a nice girl in his class!
This remembers me to my school years when also a lot of girls started smoking at this age. Before school the would suck very hard on their cigarettes to survive the learning session. Whenever possible, even by telling the teacher to go to toilette some of them would take their chance to smoke another one of their beloved cigarette to fulfill their addiction. I can remember a girl which sat next to me in those times. She was a Marlboro lights smoker and she often went to toilette for smoking :-) Whenever she came back and talked to me I could smell her wonderful smoky breath - so I knew she satisfied her cravings again.
Also in the morning and after official breaks there was always a smoky smell in the class room - viewing from today I would say in those times my smoking fetish developed a lot!
