Who would have thought she smoked?

Strange but not that unusual.
I visited a friend last July and found myself totally gob smacked, The woman I visited had a 14-year-old daughter that smokes openly. Beth is her name and she was sitting on a blanket outside on the grass with a very young girl called Gemma that she was looking after. Gemma had turned nine in June
Oh yes Beth as was normal for her, was about to light up a cigarette that was perched from her lips. But what shocked me was I noticed the small nine-year-old Gemma already had a lit cigarette in her small mouth and was strongly pulling on it.
The seemingly huge cigarette was glowing brightly and she actually had a smile of gratification when she removed the cigarette from her mouth.
She really really inhaled what seemed to be an impossibly heavy slug of smoke and held it inside her.
Because she was so desperately young I fully expected Gemma to cough her guts out. Incredibly, Gemma, as calm and as contained as you wouldn't believe simply released an awesome feathery plume of diffused smoke into the air. Then she smiled saying to Beth "Wow I so needed that!" There were stabs of smoke interspersing her words and I was blown away with disbelief.
Early this year I discovered from my friend and her daughter Beth that Gemma had been smoking for nearly two years. The familiar way Gemma handled cigarettes and the ease she breathed in smoke certainly reinforced this fact
