Who would have thought she smoked?

This one combined so many elements I really like. I'm in the restaurant smoking section (yes--I'm still one of the lucky ones, for now...), and a couple walks in and gets seated at a not too far away table. They seem an odd couple. He looks much older--50s, pot-bellied. She looks late 30s, long blond hair, great figure, very pretty in an un-made-up way. He pulled out his pack of M-Lights and lights up immediately. She didn't, and I figured this is going to be one of those worst of all worlds non-sightings. She waited until her beverage arrived, then fished in her purse, emerging with a brown hard leather cigarette pouchs. From the glimpse I got of the white lid of the hard-pack inside her case and the emergence of a cork 100, I'm pretty sure she was about to enjoy a Newport 100. There was a wonderfully tough efficiency of motion in her whole act of pulling her cigarette from the pack, inserting it in her mouth, lighting up hands-free and getting that first wonderful pull of smoke inside her. From purse to lungs in 10 seconds, I'll bet!
Her smoking style was both aggressive yet supremely feminine--cigarette held close to her face throughout, nice hefty drags followed by long inhales and creamy exhales.
But what I really loved was the classic way she finished her cigarette. From my experience, this is usually a move seen when a lady has smoked down close to the filter and wants that last bit of tobacco without burning fingers or lips, but she still had enough length left for at least a couple more drags. Anyway, she takes a nice hard pull, inhales and removes her cigarette, then re-positions it to her thumb and forefinger and takes a second hard pump as she exhales her previous one, then puts her cigarette out, still exhaling. A classic cigarette-finishing double pump, the mark of a lifelong devoted smoker. Totally badass, totally hooked, and yet so totally feminine!
