On New Year's Eve, we were traveling to my Mother's home (about a 6-hour journey) and stopped for a snack at McDonalds (the 10-year-old's choice)about 8 PM. After we stopped, an SUV driven by a mother dangling a long white pulled into the adjacent parking space (kids in the back seat). We got out of the van and walked to the building where I saw 3 ladies around the entrance smoking (they were in the company of two non-smoking men). Two very pretty ones (mid-20s I think) were puffing on long whites. The third was middle aged and talking on her cell phone. Did not get to see any drags by her. BTW, the temp was in the 50s - cold for Florida - and the women were generally wearing jeans and sweaters or jackets. After ordering the food, we sat in a booth by the window. Then two of the counter girls slipped outside. They looked like older teens - say 18 to 19. One was a brunette on the robust side and the other a skinny blonde. I spied the brunette cluthing two brown-filtered cigarettes and a lighter in her hand. She put one cig firmly between her lips and handed the other to the blonde. She sparked up the lighter, lit her friend's cig, and then her own. The tip of brunette's cig glowed brightly as she made hard drags followed by 3-second holds. Good puffy exhales and some talking exhales. The blonde however was less aggressive in her technique. I suppose she was still learning to smoke. While taking our meal, I casually noticed a man and woman enter the restaurant. The women went back outside as the man waited for their order. We finished and left. Just outside the door, the casually-noticed woman was enjoying a cigarette. As we headed to our vehicla, the man came out and he and the woman walker to their car. My own wife now had to light up a Marlboro Light (her latest prepference)while the kids got back into their seats and buckled up. Being chilly' she quickly smoked half the cig and thumped it before getting in herself.
The neat thing about this sighting, is most of the women I saw in this instance were smokers, and I did not see any men smoking.
