Who would have thought she smoked?
Posted by Usually Lurks on March 19, 2006, 17:48:44, in reply to "Hey usually Lurks" Best I can tell, she's 45-50 (just a bit younger than me), and she told me she been a smoker since 13, smokes about 2 ppd and had never tried to quit. She seems to love her Marlboro Reds 100s. Her husband smoke Reds kings, which she finds too strong (!). She's more cute than pretty, smiles a log, revealing very smoke-darkened teeth, and has that definite rasp in her voice that tells the story. Her drags are long, her inhales open-mouthed, though not snaps. (She's doing this for her, not for exhibition.) Every time I've ever joined her on a break, her second cigarette came out of the pack right after she put out the first (burned down to the cork). I have this feeling she'd light it off the last if I weren't there. The very model of a middle-aged heavy-smoking sweety!

Well, not a whole lot to tell. She's receptionist at my vet's clinic and I often shop near there, so I've run into her a number of times over a few years, and we know each other well enough that I'll stop and talk and smoke with her if I run into her taking her cigarette break. A very kind-hearted woman and, easy to talk to. She was one of the few (even before my wife, which I think she found amusing) that I let know when I went back to smoking after I'd quit for a while, which led to more than one conversation about our habits.
