Who would have thought she smoked?

Interesting thoughts, Randall. You might well be right. Over the last 10-15 years Marlboro Lights have established themselves so successfully in the UK as the young, cool brand to smoke, that they are now almost ubiquitous and are being taken up by older/less 'fashionable' types, and are maybe losing their kudos for a younger crowd. If I'm not wrong, I think the same phenomenon you described with Camels has been happening recently in the US with Parliament Lights and American Spirits (neither of which have particularly caught on in the UK - don't think Parliament Lights are even available). What interests me is that the maker seems very aware of this tendency, and as I mentioned have been placing special Lucky Strike vending machines in certain 'cool' bars and clubs. Though actually, I don't know why I'm surprised, it's their job to sell the damn things, it's to be expected they know best how to do it. And it seems the so-called 'anti-establishment' kids are falling for it hook line and sinker!
