Telling that Wells nominates not a single third-party title.
For utter playability, immediacy and charm, I don't think Kart can be beat. Play it for five minutes, play it all weekend; borrow it off your dogg, own it for 15+ years; play it solo and become truly great, entertain your little sister for an hour and come down to her level. Everyone here knows every turn of every track and did by the tenth or eleventh run through. My point is the game is as good in one application of it as it is in another. It's never not fun or at least as engaging as it was the first time you played it.
How about this: I and everyone I know has been driving with the same character since 1992, and not for a second has it seemed imperative to switch to another dude to keep things fresh. The game is so good that its replay value is organic rather than artificial. Can that be said of many other games? With Metroid, it's "I'll beat it quicker and get more shit this time." etc etc. Kart you can play the same way every damn time.
Give me Kart.
